2020 Theme for the year!

After much debate and sharing of ideas with the children this year, we have come up with the theme
LEARN......SERVE......LEAD........SUCCEED
This theme will follow on from our 2019 theme of Be your BEST and Let GOD do the Rest! We have had loads of fun with this theme and we will continue to use our school theme in 2020 to bring the school on board with its meaning. A theme ties the school together and lets children understand they are part of an overall idea or goal.
Children get to remember them and can rattle off the meaning and why they need to be learning and playing hard each day in order to achieve the year's theme.
LEARN - children understanding that they are active participates in the learning process. How do they learn and what do they need to do each day in order to learn as much as they can. In order to learn, we need our parents, our friends and our teachers. The relationship of child and teacher is a BIG aspect to this Aspect of our 2020 goal.
SERVE- What does service look like in our school. At each year level children can participate in acts of service. How they look after each other, how they help in the classroom, what they do for others are all aspects of service.
Service at senior level looks like leadership roles throughout the school and helping teachers when they can.
LEAD - we are all required in our daily lives to be followers at times but also to be leaders. Our job here at school is to create the next generation of leaders in our society and it starts when they are 5. Some children are naturally good leaders and some need some support to put themselves out there. Christ was a leader in the way he gathered people around him in order to spread his message so we are asking our children to lead others every day here at school in spreading Christ's good news.
SUCCEED - this happens every day here at our school. Our children are constantly achieving in a range of activities and lessons. As parents, we think to succeed it should only be in reading, writing or maths but succeeding at primary level takes place inside and outside the classroom. Making a friend, playing nicely, solving a conflict, sharing equipment etc are all aspects of being successful here at school and we want to highlight these successions with the children. We need to celebrate succession as much as possible so our think they are STARS all day!

Baptism here at school

Kia ora kotou everyone,  Last Friday was Sienna's special Baptism day and it was amazing. Sienna's family plus room 1, 8 and 10 came to attend the baptism. When we all came in Sienna was wearing a stunning dress with flowers all over it. Esther started us off with an opening prayer she read delightfully. Once Esther finished her prayer all the disciples came down the isle with one special item, you could see the excitement on Sienna's face. When Sienna got baptized her face light up, she is now an official a member of Gods church! Once she got baptized, she went down the isle and came back up in a beautiful white dress. After the baptism we sang some hymns and had eucharist, everyone sang incredibly by the way. After the mass we had some special baptism cupcakes. A big thank you to Sienna's family for those incredible cupcakes, the disciples for helping with the mass and reading so wonderfully and of co...
